Analyzing textures in fiber technology

Online testing of fibers can be a challenge for measurement technology providers. Together with industrial partners, the staff of the Fraunhofer IGCV has succeeded in reliably detecting fiber defects in production. Within the current project AirCarbon III, the Fraunhofer IGCV conducts research with AI in fiber technology.

Chromasens cooperates with the Frauenhofer IGCV for this project.
Together they developed a special optical measuring system for carbon for the new materials: It allows microdefects to be seamlessly monitored and potential negative process influences to be detected early on, thus avoiding process disturbances such as winder formation or dew breaks. In addition, the system provides data and findings that can be used to significantly improve process stability in carbon fiber production.
